Candidate Q&A
NC Health News reached out to Bailey’s campaign multiple times looking for answers to our list of questions and received no response.
To give readers information, we combed the internet and social media for statements by Bailey that could address the themes in our questions. Bailey’s website was defunct and the only public interview we could find was a May 2026 YouTube interview on the Political Freedom Fighters page.
Unfortunately, we were not able to find material to answer any questions, but here are some quotes from Bailey around health care.
“One thing that government is really good at is the use of force, but health care doesn’t really benefit from force. You can you establish monopolies and in a way that’s it’s like the health care we had the COVID pandemic here a while back and oh what would we do without government to save us? But government has their certificate of need program, they’re creating a shortage by saying, “Well, you as a hospital, you have to get permission from the government to buy an MRI machine or an X-ray machine or a [ventilator]”
“You got to have their permission and so where’s the closest one? If there’s one within 75 miles, you can’t have it. Or you can only have one per 50,000 people in your area and they’ve got all these things.
“So when the pandemic happened and all of a sudden they needed a whole bunch of the resuscitators, they didn’t have them because they they weren’t prepared for that. They’re hospital rooms. you’ve got to get permission to build an extra hospital bed from the government. So, the government is making their best guess and we’ll pretend like they’re totally benevolent, but they don’t really know.
“And yet so then there’s an emergency and well, even then, you’ve still got to get the permission before you can build the hospital room. It’s just we shouldn’t be involving government in health care that’s between you and your doctor.”
Re: Medicare
“We need to get the government out of the retirement business.”
Re: Social Security
“It’s a Ponzi scheme. It’s going to fail. We’re all just waiting to see when and how. But I think that what we should do is buy people out of it and those who are dependent on it. Now, we’re going to have to pay it off. And people paid into it. We owe them. I think that we would do well to sell a lot of the public land to raise the money to pay for that sort pay for that transition.”
