PIttsboro residents Johnny Wilson and Lesley Starke felt like they needed to install their own water filter to deal with chemical contamination in their municipal water. The town is the only one that takes water from the Haw River, which has been contaminated with PFAS chemicals and 1,4 dioxane that have been dumped into the river upstream, largely by industries located in Greensboro.
