School counselor Liz Parker came down from Buncombe County to advocate for more mental health resources for her students. “We need more counselors we need more social workers, we feel like we’re seeing more and more mental health concerns in school,” Parker said. “We’re starting to understand more and more the impact that childhood trauma has on chidlren who are coming into our schools, and if we don’t meet those mental health needs, then we certainly can’t meet their educational needs.” Credit: Rose Hoban
