This is an image of 16 Bluegill fish that are lying on a wooden table where they will be descaled. The fish were caught in the Cape Fear River and are one of the fish species that appears on a fish advisory because they wer found to be contaminated with PFAS.

Bluegill is one of the species on the NCDHHS freshwater fish advisory list for the middle and lower Cape Fear River. The recommendation is that pregnant women, children, and women of childbearing age should avoid eating bluegill. Credit: The Skarure Tribe
