Drew Pescaro gets emotional during a press conference Tuesday in support of moving several gun safety bills filed by Democrats that have been stuck in committee for months. Pescaro, 20, survived being shot during an incident at UNC Charlotte in which two of his classmates were killed and another three were injured.
“I’m tired of living my life as the victim,” said the Apex man, who had three surgeries and spent a month in the hospital after the shooting. “You know, this wasn’t the life I asked for. I just want action, because people clearly don’t understand how much this affects someone when it happens, but also for the rest of my life. I’m gonna have to live with the scars that I have.” Credit: Rose Hoban
