This 2017 image, depicted the right hand of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) scientist, placing the samples into a cold-storage environment within the laboratory setting.

North Carolina will be receiving shipments of the Pfizer vaccine which will require ultra-cold storage in freezers designed to go as low as 80 degrees Celsius. Many hospitals and research facilities in North Carolina have access these freezers, but the cold storage requirement will limit the shipments initially to those facilities.
